BSides Basingstoke 2025

This was a dual-opportunity event for me! With my friendly encouragement Control Plane kindly sponsored the event, so I got to run the company booth AND host my own talk “IAM very confused - A Friendly Guide to Cloud and Modern AuthZ”.

We had some good activity at the booth which is great to drum up some leads and get more interest in Kubernetes. As a sponsor we also got to add our Control Plane training cards to all the visitors’ bags, which are always a great hit. For the slow parts of the day we were lucky to be seated next to the Lock picking village :D

One of my friends is quite new to Cyber Security and I enjoyed seeing him dart around the event learning new things and watching the talks.

In my talk “IAM very confused - A Friendly Guide to Cloud and Modern AuthZ” I wanted to take the viewer from zero to IAM specialist in a 30 min talk. I covered all the different IAM concepts and how they relate to each other along with different opensource projects to help implement those concepts.
