DC4420

Kevin Wakeward introduced me to the DC4420 and I was so excited to hear I could visit “a slice of defcon” here in London.

The conference was very different to the other cons I’ve been too. Very “hacker” vibes and a really large turn out. They passed the mic around the room which was a good 40+ people, and we all gave a brief introduction about ourselves which was very sweet. A VERY wide range of talent across all fields of Cyber Security, we then had a chance to grab a drink before the talks began.

The OWASP Nettacker talk was my favorite, so glad to hear there are open source projects to replace Nessus, which in my expereine is quite challenging to get meaningful actionable results out of.

This event was by far the best for meeting other peeps in Cyber Security. I was very lucky to get to meet Lena Yu who runs the Malware Village at Defcon. She encouraged me to write a talk submission for Defcon which I stayed up to 02:00 in order to get it submiited before the deadline. Hoping for the best! She also told me about BSides Birmingham, which is having its launch event later in the week which I will also endeavor to visit.
